Shackamaxon Boat Auction and Party CANCELED

Sorry, but I canceled the August Boat Auction Party for lack of response. Many folks liked the idea, but without the promise of about 100 people, we wouldn't have an adequate energy for buyers and sellers. We may try the event again in the future if there is expressed interest. It would be fun.

I'll leave the discription page up for a fortnight so people can see what the gist of it would have been, and so folks can see that it is, in fact, canceled.

Auction Items being Added. See Auction Items link on left menu.

The Shackamaxon Boat Auction is a party. You don't have to be selling anything or intend on buying anything to enjoy an open bar, music, and a light feed. It's also an opportunity to hawk your used boat, oars, or whatever rowing equipment. Or, if you're in the market, it's an opportunity to find something at a good price.

We'll also have a smaller silent auction, the proceeds from which will go toward supporting local athletes racing for the US National team abroad this year.

Here are the Details

For the Party Goers. Come by for what may become the best rowing garage sale ever. Reservations are not required but we do ask that you sign up at our Evite.com page before 26 August 2010. There will be an open bar, a free light feed, and music. Plus, the auction should be fun; a grand opportunity to look at other people's stuff.

For Sellers. We'll consider any item for the auction, and will suggest a starting price if you like. There will be no reserve price, so any bid will constitute an agreement to sell at that price. There will be a $25/seat display fee for all boats at the auction; $5 for each set of oars and any other piece of equipment.

We suggest that you come prepared to accept cheques for all local buyers, but you can specify cash only. We will also accept payment via Paypal.com, but will pass on merchant fees if Shackamaxon has to facilitate the transactions.

All boat sellers must register by Friday, 20 August at 5pm. We'd like a photo of two to put up on this site as well as a full description of the item (emailed to director@shopshax.com). All other sellers must register by 26 August 2010.

For Buyers. Please bring at least your ID, cheque book, credit card, or (better) set up a paypal.com account before coming to the auction. Bringing cash or paying by Paypal is preferable for all buyers coming from outside of the Philadelphia area. We will also assess the 8% sales tax for all taxable organisations/individuals, so consider that in your bidding.

Come to shopshax.com to view all boats that will be at the auction the week before 28 August.

Silent Auction. We'll also have a silent auction for smaller items. All proceeds will be contributed to our local athletes who are traveling abroad to represent the US National team. If you'd like to donate/sell and item through the silent auction, send a picture and description of your item to director@shopshax.com by 20 August at 5pm. If you want to sell the item, tell us your minimum price.
