About us

The folks at the Boat Works at Shackamaxon -- the ShaxShop for short -- have been repairing rowing boats for about ten years. We're a team that combines individual knowledge of composite boat construction as well as skilled craftsmen. The business formally came together in late 2008 as an off-shoot of Sykes Racing North America.

The vision for having an online store has been around for a while. We have had to maintain a large inventory of parts and hardware for overseas makes of boats, servicing Sykes, Empacher, and Filippi customers particularly. Along with parts, we've been adding a wide variety of boat and rower accessories to our store on the ground floor of the shop. Most of those items appear on ShopShax.com. Still, we're constantly adding new products and are eager to learn how we can better serve folks in the rowing community.
